The Cooper Union

The XFL was an American football league created by the World Wrestling Federation in the early 2000’s, which drew in crowds with their aggressive, lawless playing and also the audience’s ability to listen to the players as they played through microphones fixed in their helmets. Although the league was short-lived, it still holds the interest of many sports fans— that is why ESPN’s popular ’30 for 30’ documentary series created This Was the XFL to commemorate it.

For the premier of this documentary, Markham Productions asked us to play a big part in providing the scenic at Cooper Union where the film debuted. To enhance the XFL’s branding and football theme, we executed the field graphics with vinyl applique, created the window scenic, supplied the mannequins to display the league’s jerseys, provided our video equipment and services to show clips from past games, built in the display and merchandise stands, and placed the branded and display lighting in the room. We had a ‘field day!’
